As sent to me:

Some buddies from Kingston were fortunate enough to draw one of 4 bull elk tags issued for the Bancroft area.

They got this 6 by 6 last Friday, the first elk taken in Ontario by bow as confirmed by MNR this morning. It weighed over 700 pounds on the hoof.

The shooter, the guy on the right, was also the first person to take a turkey in Ontario with a bow.

Congrats to the shooter. More than likely a trophy of a lifetime.

Cheers

It's not easy to get a tag obviously , with only 4 bull tags given out for the whole herd. I'm not sure how the process works for the draw or how many hunters apply.

Go for it Chris. You'll never know if you don't try. :)

Cheers

It's a not easy that's for sure.... They are making money at it because you have to pay to enter the draw if I remember right then if picked you have to pay for the license. My buddy's in Bancroft have yet to see any Elk any how
