Hunting deer for the first time this year with my recently retired dad. Learning on the fly, but looking forward to it. No great signs like that on the spots I checked so far, but doing some more scouting on the weekend. Good luck to all the hunters!

This is on our own property, but I won't be rifle hunting that specific spot. Reason is, these scrapes (there are 4 in a 1 mile line) are typically only visited at night, and the bucks nearly always come in downwind from their scrape. By Monday most bucks should already be following the does.

So I will be hunting funnels along the (nearby) doe trails instead of the scrape line. It is nice to see the pics of headgear cruising the property before the hunt, brings hope.

I was sitting on the side of a street in a subdivision Wednesday morning doing some work, and a doe almost walked into the side of my jeep, and right behind her was a little 6 point buck
