Shed hunting

Post by Tip-up »

With the snow almost gone in a lot of places it's time to start looking for shed antlers. Anyone else partake in this hobby? Lets see some pics!

When do antlers typically start to "come in" after they are shed?

I spotted a herd of 16 deer earlier this week and spent 20 minutes watching them through my binoculars and there wasn't one pair of antlers to be found... but I could definitely identify 3 of the 16 as bucks...possibly a fourth.

Yes, it is a fun spring pastime. Have been out only 2x and none found so far in 2014... but we were limiting ourselves to approx 65 acres, there were 2 bucks there in January with headgear.

Antler knobs will be visible in the next couple of weeks. Usually see a few bucks with stubbies during mid-late May while Turkey hunting.
