SPEEDY SHARP is made with Micro 100® Super Carbide, a fine grain that will not break even under extreme conditions. It will literally sharpen anything with an edge - all your kitchen knives, including serrated knives, scissors, pinking shears, axes, carpet knives, chisels, razor blades, hunting knives, scrapers, broad-head arrows, fish hooks, all filleting knives, electrician knives, pocketknives, router bits, planer blades, utility knives, pruning shears, grass shears, snow skis, ice auger blades, shovels, skates, lawn mower blades, vegetable peelers, nail clippers, x-acto type knives and blades for your food processor, coffee grinder, and yes...it does hooks as well, very nicely I might add.

I was introduced to Speedy Sharp in 2007 at the Carp Fishing Show and had to have one. Since then, it has become just as important as my multi-tool, having rigged up a little carrying case that attached to my belt, for quick access to give those hooks a little rub every now and again to keep them sharp, and make sure I don't lose that lunker because the hook was dull.

The Review:
Speedy Sharp Sharpeners are a compact tool that fits in your hand nicely with no moving parts, gears, wheels, or anything that would make it bulky and difficult to use or store. Not only does it sharpen hooks and knives, you can use the Speedy Sharp to sharpen just about anything form ceraded blades, ice skates, axes, and it even cuts through braided line.

Being such a small tool, you can store and carry it just about anywhere. Your tackle box, knife sheath, or even hang it around your neck on a string. This tool is very strong. I've tried to break it myself and can't seem to do so. There are not a lot of components with the Speedy Sharp, only the sharpening edge made of carbide steel and the rubberized handle. As far as colors are concerned, only 1 color is really needed. No use for other colors unless you want to match your Speedy Sharp with your outfit that day. :?

The Speedy Sharp works! It is a light weight utililty tool that can be carried and accessed easily. It sharpens most everything and has the ability to both sharpen and hone. Honing is recommended after sharpening, and in many cases only Honing is required to make your blades or hooks sharp. Use the Sharpening motion more for though tough tools such as axes or skate blades, and then hone them down for a perfect edge.

I find the SpeedySharp to work very well for hooks and small knives with smooth edges. I do find it a little challenging doing cerated blades and getting the angle just right, but that could just be the operator and not the product itself. Overall, a recommended tool for your tackle box and garage.
