What models of Sit on top style kayaks do you guys use if any? And what are your opinions on them or other models?

I also am 6'4" 275lbs. Hope that helps with the size of me and the correct kayak to use. NOT interested in Canoes at all. Been there done that.

I am thinking... a fiber-glassed piano crate?

Sorry HaZarD! Just bugging you!!

Good luck... I am curious about the capacities of the average Yak too...

Most kayaks can hold 300-600 pending the model. I have looked at alot but dont know what ones are the best. I really dont care what it looks like but more how it moves through the water and stability for Kneeling and possible standing. I would like to mount a trolling motor and fish finder.

Holy crap! I didn't know that they had that kind of capacity. My tinny has MAYBE a 400lb capacity.

What kind of Yaking are you looking at doing? Not that I know anything about them.. but I am certain that this would dictate the model appropriate for you.

and yes cprince some do have a 600 capacity..but most range is 350 to 400 or so.

you could get the kayak angler magasine it as almost all off them in it and its free.

at that weight..i would mabe stay in a 14 feet long aprox..mabe a 13 for soe modeles.

tarpon 140
ocean trident 13-15
oceans prowler 13

sit inside..pungo 140
or hybrid ultimate 14.5

I was eyeballin this one prince.. seems like a good one but still researching reviews.. I want stability and medium mobility. Theres always a balance between fast and stable and usually you gotta give up a bit on one or the other..

I bought a Wilderness Atak 140 in November. 3 days later strapped it on top of my parents van and headed for Port Charlotte, Florida. Managed to get out early 2 mornings.
Caught a 30" bonnet head shark, an 8" diameter stingray and a catfish. All in the flats. It is a great kayak. Lots of room ,tracks and an amazing seat. There were a couple of nocks on a few web sites that I read but I was really happy with it. The kicker on this rig was the list price was $2119 and I got it for $1199 on sale. Added a paddle,$150.
The one thing I will say that I don't like is if you put a rod holder on the rear track it is difficult to reach. I am 6'1" 260 and I can stand up in this yak.
Paddle wise it is easy to paddle and is a real joy to fish out of. We are heading back down south next month , but will have our21 Mako CC with us but I hope to spend a couple of mornings hunting Red fish.
The yak I was really looking for was a Jackson Coosa HD. Not sure what your budget is but these are in the $2100. For me the Wilderness at $1199 was an easy buy. Unfortunately I got the last one. I met a few guys fishing the flats around Punta Gorda who were fishing the cheaper yaks but had set them up real nice. I figured that when there are possibly a few fish around in the 8 to 10 ' range with a mouth full of teeth that bigger was better. I saw a guy catch a 6'6" bull shark about half a mile from where I was fishing 4 years ago.
Good look with you purchase.
I tried to load a picture but am not sure if I got it right. If it doesn't show up pm me and I will send you a couple.
