What size battery do you use and what life do you get between charges?

I get about 3-4 hour none stop with my med size battery,,,trolling.

Heres a link to a tread that show my battery
http://www.yakfisher.net/smffiles/index ... 0#msg29240
But might go up a bit in the battery aize and put a little solar panel!

Plus my next project on my other yak will have a smaller motor,,,so,less siz drag in water but still strong anugh,,but use less power....then back to smaller battery. And again will put a little solor on it.

I would like a min 6 hour none stop, Sure you can get a huge battery and get a 12 hoir none stop. But will be there,,and not not foget we are in a kayak lol.

Have fun on your ev yak

That was a kit i got,,,,,but many way to do it yourself,,,its easy and cheap,,,since thenmi baught many smaller moror then that,,,a kayak as a hull speed anyway even if you put bigger,,,you wont get that mutvh more speed so might not be worth the extra weight and monney to gain 1/2 mph...

I tried a Series 24 battery on my 10 foot Pelican. It weighs 45 pounds and with the motor (a min kotta 30 30) the weight was too much. On the Ottawa river and it was just above the water. now wondering about a bigger boat like the pelican catch 120. supposed to be able to handle 400 pounds, BUT the 10 footer I have says it handles 325 pounds and that is simply not true.
is your batter a deep cycle? the one I bought is. Can smaller starter battery work?

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate this as I am not giving up on getting a motorized kayak

Tony. Yes its deap cycle, I baught it at battery expert,,,its about 90$

Its trully not heavy, About yak size,,,that one you see is 14.5 feet long and can handle two person. So one and a battery is no prob.

But big battery in a small yak can be a prob, I would go see battery expert and see what they have, Or simply go see some. Of those. Electric wheelchair store,,,they have many smaller version light and good quality.
