It was a great weekend to fish Quinte. Met lots of great people I was feeling under the weather so I didn't get out and about as much as I would have liked but I definitely will next time
My boat had trouble finding fish on thursday and only went 2 for 2. Friday was better when we went 12 for 12..what a perfect day to be on the water.
We battled the waves for about 6 hours on Sat and ended up going 5 for 5.

Nice pics all. Had a great weekend. Only made it out fishing on Saturday in the light breezy that was blowing down the reach. There were some small 2,3 and 4 footers to deal with. Typically Bay of Quinte blow up.
As NT has posted we only managed 7 fish on Saturday but considering the conditions that was pretty good. I regret not coming up for the day on Friday. Seeing the bay dead calm as I drove in and knowing Saturday was going to blow made me a bit down.
Still the weekend was good. Food was awesome and the company as always was great.

I am concerned though - word on the street is that 10 plus pound trophy walleye were being killed and cleaned up there...?
is that true?

scheevie, Off the 50 hawkers we had there and 100's of fish we caught, only a handfull of fish were kept and eaten. 3 fish over 10lbs were kept. 1 for the wall and 2 after the anglers couldn't revive them.
Merlands was full and we weren't the only anglers there.
The good news is this. From our group, no fish were wasted, everyone followed the regs and I'd bet 95% of the fish caught were carefully and successfully released.
I have to confess, it does irritate me that this topic has to be blown out of porpotion.
So many people took the time to properly learn how to handle a big walleye and release it. Everyone tried to fish the top 30' of water so they wouldn't cause the fish any presure harm. Everyone was equipt with proper handling nets. Everyone unhooked their catches, got them back in the water quickly and took the time to properly revieve them. I was on the water all weekend and saw no floters.
I was proud of the Fish Hawkers for taking the time to learn this and to put it into practice. But because a handful of fish were kept for a fish fry, none of this gets recognized.
C&R is a great thing, but some extremists are taking it too far.

We kept 3 fish Friday. (1 each)
1 big one (bladder in the gullet), 2 smaller under 23" (1 with damaged gills)
All the rest when back to become 20lbers.
