Fishin with da big boyz...

Well folks, I've promised this for sometime now and I apologize for taking so long, but I've been busy, busy, busy for the past while.

Last August I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Great Bear Lake and the Tree River which drains directly into the Arctic Ocean and is the premier destination for Arctic Char in the world.

Had a party of ten including Facts of Fishing’s Dave Mercer and a host of Shimano personnel including Bob “BOOM BOOM” Mahoney the marketing/graphics guy and National director of sales Steve the “LAKER KING” Sherman, and I don’t mean Laker Beer either...the boy can fish.

The trip turned out to be everything and then some and when it was all said and done the biggest thrill for me was the Arctic Char that graced the cover of the spring issue of Just Fishing... it is imbedded in my coconut for ever and ever...PERIOD. Even beat catching nearly 30 lakers over ten pounds on as many casts.

Then came the distinct privilege of ice fishing this past winter on Lake of the Woods with... and I don’t mean to drop names... it just can’t be avoided when you get included with the likes of this mob...Jimmy Lindner and Dan Sura from Anglers Edge, Doug Stange and Jeff Simpson with In’Fisherman and Walleye Insider, Gord Pyzer from Outdoor Canada, Just Fishing, and In’Fisherman TV, both the Izumi brothers Bob and Wayne whom everyone knows, Tom Gruenwald and Eric Poster from HT Enterprises, Will Wegman from Lake Simcoe, and a Snobear full of other ice personalities... What a privilege!!!
<img src="http://www.fish-hawk.net/photogallery/a ... G_0131.JPG"> <img src="http://www.fish-hawk.net/photogallery/a ... G_0124.JPG">

One of the most amazing things about both these trips was that the egos were checked at the door bar none, which makes the trip a real treat in my eyes.

<img align="left" src="http://www.fish-hawk.net/photogallery/a ... .JPG">High point on the ice was loading 15 whitefish out of one hole in less than an hour after having Mr. Pyzer give me a five minute lesson where I used my ears and eyes... instead of my mouth... works every time.

I could write five thousand words...but the old one picture is worth a thousand words takes on new meaning when you get these kinds of opportunities in world class fisheries....so here goes!!!!

Please enjoy as much as I did, and I truly wish everyone on Fish-Hawk could have been in my luggage.

Jim,

What an adventure you had there my friend. One of a lifetime for sure. I was actually watching your Lake of the Woods adventure on WFN a little while ago.

Fantastic fish, a great time, great friends and one that I can only dream of being part of someday.

Thanks for sharing your story Jim.

Absolutely Awesome!

Oh MY GOODNESS look at the size of those Ice Lakers,,

Wow Wow and Wow

When on Great Bear did your group find some of the big girls? The 1st trip my father in-law made up there he caught a 42lber in 15ft of water, said it was like trying to turn a freight train.
