I switched to my cordless drill a couple of years ago and I won't go back. Last year I upgraded my drill and batteries for more power and life. I have been using a modified 8" hand auger with a drill adapter, 12" extension, and a float. It works really well, but I was going through cheap drill adapters like crazy. I bought a better, solid, stainless adapter off amazon and I think it will do the job and last longer, we'll see.
I almost pulled the trigger and bought a Cabela's brand drill auger when it was on sale last week. But, it wasn't enough of an improvement over what I have now to justify the expense. Now I am seriously considering buying one of the name brand augers, but I don't know one from another.
From my research, these are the contenders: Jiffy Torch; Eskimo Pistol bit; K drill; and the Strike Master Light Flight.
Does anyone have any advice? Do you own or have used any of them? Thanks guys!
Cordless Drill Augers
Re: Cordless Drill Augers
I don't own any of those drill augers, but have been out a few times with guys with 7.5" K-Drills and they cut like going through butter. I am waiting until next year, or maybe the end of this ice season if I find a sale, but my plan is to get a K-Drill. I want to upgrade my drill and batteries this winter.
What adapter did you buy off Amazon? I am looking for one.

Re: Cordless Drill Augers
I purchased this one from Amazon with a Frozen Lines Label. Unfortunately, they are currently unavailable.

I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet, so I can't give it a thumbs up. But, it sure looks and feels better than the Cabela's/Strikemaster/Rapala die cast ones. I must have broken five or six of them last year. They all break at the same place in the stem. I starting carrying a spare on the ice and leaving another in my truck.

I bought that linked IceMaster Adapter in the beginning of the 2020 ice season since it also comes in a threaded version that fits my old 70's Mora hand auger. Paired this adapter with a Dewalt DCD996P2 drill and its a totally different experience than when it was hand powered. Mine is only a 6" auger, but the adapter has done a great job and Ive cut a lot of holes with it.
I would second the recommendation of this adapter if you are converting an existing auger.
I have also looked at the newer augers designed for the drill however similar to Piscavore I havent decided that its worth the expense for the upgrade yet. My research led me to favour the LightFlight or PistolBit with the flat blades design over the K-Drill and its shaver blades based on my type of ice expeditions, but they all look very good.
