So... What are you guys looking forward to trying this year?

Just what the title says....anything and everything related to Rods, Reels, Terminal Tackle, Plastics, what others are using, what works, what doesn't work, and anything else you want to talk about regarding equipment.

Post by lape0019 »

I have acquired quite a bit of new gear over the off season and I am looking forward to trying most of it out. I am just wondering what everyone else is excited to try this upcoming season?

For me, the list so far is...

Rod: Dobyns DX743c
Reel: Shimano Chronarch CI4+ 6.4:1
Lure: Lunkerhunt Lunkerfrog

I have wanted the rod for a few years now and that is why it beats out the xx jerkbait special...

I managed to snag one of the new curados when they came out can't wait to try that out and the new live target bait balls intrigue me. Have been a big fan of live target the last couple years.

I have 3 new Metanium and a Sustain in my basement that are just killin me! I've actually been throwing a few casts in the back yard. Also got a bunch of new crankbaits and jerkbaits. Yamamoto's, Lucky Craft Pointers, Storm Arashi's, Yo Zuri’s 3DB, and some Jackall Squad Minnows. Gonna be a long wait till bass opener.

Well,

I guess it is safe to say there are quite a few more tackle enthusiasts on this board than I originally thought!.

Fishingfreak, the curado does look and feel like a real winner and I am sure you will be happy with it. I will probably be grabbing one if the larger baitball jerkbaits to try the next time I am at Paddletales. They do look nice and now that I know they make them in the 110 size, I am considering at least 1,

CNdbasshunter, I was jealous of your setups before you wrote that down! I am in awe of your dedication to Megabass and hope those rods live up to their reputation. And if they don't, let me know and I will gladly take a few off your hands.
And if I had a new Antares, I would probably be exited too!

Jona, with gear like that in my basement, I would go crazy as well. At least you have been able to play with it a bit...

Norm, The DX742 has quite the following. I was really torn between the DX743 and 742 but as I already had a. 2 power rod, the 743 was the way I went. I have to 2500 ci4 stradics and love them. Other are great reels for the price IMO...

When you had the 852 in your hand when I picked up the 735, I got worried. I was glad to see you replaced it and I hope the 746 treats you well.

And if It doesn't, you aren't getting the 735 back anyway

I was playing with the new 635CB and it should be a fun stick for the smaller jerkbaits. I really like the NRX852, one of the best spinning rods available.

I'm looking forward to trying out the new strike king red eye colors for walleye opener. They are also coming out with a new chatterbait that looks promising. Also looking to buy another rod reel combo, hoping to buy the quantum smoke combo if my money holds up :) Heres to hoping for some warm weather so we might get a crack at open water eyes before april... fingers crossed!

nice box cnd, i use lipless cranks ALOT as well! Mostly rapala and blaze models work well for me and also of course the red eye shad. When they aren't hitting those, I will switch to a non rattle one or a shad rap, works almost every time.
