Wait till you try the JBS with the pencil 110. It's like that rod was made for that bait!

This! Installed it last night, works great and I'd like to give a little advice to anyone installing one, USE THE ANTI SEIZE GREASE, if you don't it'll seize up half way through and you'll have to cut the bolt and buy new ones. Don't ask!!

The type r Tatula is a pretty sweet looking reel. I just can't get past how it palms.

Have you checked out the pics of the Tatula hd? Apparently same components in an aluminum frame and just slightly heavier...

I have two Shimano Calcutta 101B's that don't have rods. My plan is to stick'em on Fenwick Elitetech's.

The Shimano Calcuttas are awesome crank-bait reels.

The reel has lots of power and i didnt feel stressed throwing the deep divers on the black elsiel. The palmability is spectacular, the size is just as small as the old 50 but the new flat top allows you to really grip and hold the reel when a fish is on. We were smashing walleye the largest being close to 7lbs and no problems with torque, drag was very smooth. I put some HH AIR in the reel and casting was excellent, i almost spooled when throwing 1/2 oz baits. I tried some 1/4oz shallow cranks and it was fine, no problems even when casting in the wind. The larger gearbox on the handle side does NOT get in the way like my old G3 abu reels. The knobs are excellent, just like the septum knobs! very grippy. If the new CQ had a faster ratio all my casting reels would be the new conquest.

I've been eyeballing the Morrum for a very long time now.
I'm due for a round bait-caster and the conquest is going on my list.
Definitely is the main contender right now.
Paddletales has a Conquest 200 in the back store. It's got my name on it.
Can't wait to get it home where it will meet the real seat of my Dobyns 764CB RM 8)

Well I had the opportunity to try pretty much all of my carp gear at the CanAm 2014 held on Morrison Island at the bird Sanctuary camp ground near the Upper Canada Village. Interesting to fish from shore where there is varying water current due to the Cornwall and Iroquois dams. Damn zebra mussels, real razor blades on your lines.

By the way, Team Canada won, maybe the Americans will win next year on their side of the shore shore. Will certainly be held in Waddington, NY.

For me it was a real learning experience trying to fish for 60 hours straight (I admit I went to sleep in the wee hours, but so did my peg partner). Early in the morning we heard about other carpers in pegs nearby that had success around 3:00-4:00 am. Oh well! You snooze you loose.

Lots of baiting done, that wash down with the current. I had to go buy some heavier leads (at least 3.0 ounces to set it right), and change tactics à few times. My peg partner came in third in the competition, so I had lots of opportunities to net all of his carps and do the registration. He's been fishing carp longer than I, and is also a carp feed company representative, so I can vouch for the bait he was using.

Lots of fun, can't wait till CanAm 2015.

I finally took possession of my Shimano 2014 Calcutta Conquest.
I went out yesterday on the shores of Meech lake just to try it out.
I spooled it with 12lbs test mono (that's all I had on hand) and paired with the Dobyns 764CBRM.
I tied on a Strike King KVD 1.5

All I can say is the reel is old school type with new technology.
Simple design with a classy look. 8)
It is solid and well put together. Nothing too fancy and easy to fine tune.
The newly designed much lower profile makes palming very comfortable.
That was the reason I had sold all my round bait casters. (Arthritis was winning the battle).
The only drawback (IMO) are the weirdly designed knobs. Nothing can be perfect for a tacklehoe.

I started with two brakes on and two off and was getting some professional overruns.
I had to go to three brakes on and could still cast the 3/8 lure approx 40 yards but with no overruns.
The reel is the smoothest that I have ever used so far. My MGX is not far behind in the smoothness category. :D

The biggest drawback for many people will be the price.
It is fairly expensive but considering the fact that the reel will be handed down to my grandson, it's an excellent purchase.
In 20 years from now my Grandson will be fishing with the Maverick and assuming that he is right handed and has my Conquest,
he'll be asking the Maverick: "How the heck did GrampaStar ever fish with this piece of crap". :|

Long overdue but never too late, a Steez overview.
Steez, insinuating style and ease, would be fair to say.
It is by far the most refined reel I’ve own to this day.
The casting distance is remarkable; the spool being a 103 isn’t quite a finesse spool (105), nor is it a spool with normal line capacity (100).

Every clicking option from the CC knob, drag star and thumbar is flawless and crisp.
I was afraid it would feel hollow being so light, but on the contrary, it feels very solid in hand.
Palming is so comfortable the reel simply disappears in hand.

It can get finicky at times when switching out lures, but once dialed in properly it’s simply a casting machine.
The D’s braking system has yet to prove me wrong, IMO one of the best on the market.

With that being said, the MSRP is up there, I wouldn’t pay full retail.
This one was bought used at a very fair price, the previous owner had used the reel once.

How does it compare to the so called "Poor man's Steez"? The Daiwa SS SV. 8)
