Ha its funny you should ask... After careful consideration and a smoking deal from Ed I walked out with a.... Abu Revo STX. It just felt the best in my hand and look forward to getting back on the water!jona38 wrote:So what did you end up getting??

I don't think you could have gotten a better reel for that price Justin!
Now, we just have to convince you to throw those baits you bought!!!

Re: Shimano vs. Lews
I read some of the comments, and I want to clarify some things to avoid any confusion towards what I personally wrote:
It was just happenchance that other posters specified their personal lack of happiness with their own Lew’s products, so I shouldn’t have joined the pile-on by mentioning that brand specifically… Sorry, Lew’s Fans!
Also, I didn't just hold a reel in the store and make a snap judgement - I think my post emphasized time on the water, among other key considerations such as weight, aesthetics, etc. My comments about being in-store were in the context that before buying I wanted to put the reels onto the actual rod I would be using, because when I have used the reels in question previously (last summer) they were from other anglers, on totally different set-ups from what I would have been using personally. Hence I went with Rod to Store to try some specific reels on my specific rod. I should have specified more clearly on this aspect of my post, I understand. Constructive criticism is always welcome by any good writer, so thank you to those who critiqued me on this aspect - I appreciate your comments.
I didn’t want my post to come across like a Shimano advertisement either. I own reels and rods from across the manufacturing spectrum. I would say that if you were to only own one brand, you are probably limiting yourself from some other great pieces of equipment, no matter what sport we’re talking about!
As to why I included the Rocket vs. my Chronarch even though the Rocket has a higher gear ratio, I included the Rocket in my personal review because I was looking for something light that picked up line fast. Yes, it has a different gear ratio and no, I did not specify that, nor that I have also used a Rocket first hand (yes, on the water.) My bad, I guess, as it is somewhat a lack of continuity but perhaps we can chalk it up to a creative writing hiccup…
Thanks for allowing me this clarification.

Ed is sweet and gentle with first timers.
He's got a knack of finding out what you like.
