I have a GLoomis frog rod I am pairing with a Quantum PT Burner reel.
Any ssuggestions on what line to spool up with?
50lb pp too much?

Re: Line suggestion
50 is the minimum I would use. I throw 65.

I use 50lb pp for frogs and i wouldn't go any less.
I have had 2 breaks offs. Most likely because i was to lazy to re-tie. Both where at the end of the day and the fish was buried deep in the weeds.

50lb Power Pro for me. The sole reason I use 50lb vs 65lb is casting distance, have yet to break 50.

8lb mono?!? Haha jkjk. I don't fish for bass but I would second Brads point. 50lb would give ya more casting distance than 65 and if your knots are tied right and no nicks in the line 50lb should be more than enough to winch a 5lb bass out of some thick slop. Like I said though I'm not a bass guy so I tend to go with the lightest line I can get away with (trout fisherman chiming in on a bass question).
Re: Line suggestion
I cast further with 65 on a Curado 200E7 than I could set the hook so I'm not worried about anymore distance. The general consesus here is 50 would be the minimum.
