What are you looking forward to using part III

Just what the title says....anything and everything related to Rods, Reels, Terminal Tackle, Plastics, what others are using, what works, what doesn't work, and anything else you want to talk about regarding equipment.

What are you looking forward to using part III

Post by CNs »

As a follow up to the previous thread on what you are looking forward this season..

Did the new stuff live up to expectations?

The new megabass orichii xx shakey head rod is awesome. As a drop shot rod it is very sensitive and has a great backbone. I was looking at a rod to eventually replace my Simax great lakes DS rod. It is close but not quite as sensitive as the SImax, a good alternative.

also picked up a Gloomis jerkbait rod. Its a great light crankbait rod as well

The s-cranks attract fish but haven't really given them a test.
Haven't tried the pompadour or binksy yet

Motor is put back together and is working great

The Pompadour sure does work!

The new Zodias rods have turned into favorites in my arsenal, briefly fished the S Cranks & Binksy I'm sure they'll get more use as the year goes by.

I haven't had a chance to try everything yet....but

I have switched over to mostly tungsten weights for this year. I wanted to add a tungsten weight/uni-snelled straight shank hook/creature bait to my pitching arsenal. I've only used this presentation for a few hours on the Rideau River, but never the less it impressed me with the results so far. The plastic of choice was the Anglers Choice Flappin Weasel (formerly Bass Magnet Flappin Weasel). My hook of choice for fishing slop the last several years has been the Gamakatsu Heavy Cover Flipping Hook. Great hook, stupid bait holder. The bait holder is held on by shrink wrap. A drop or two of crazy glue takes care of things. I picked up some Mustad Denny Brauer Grip Pin Max Flippin’ Hook just to give them a try in case I decide I'm sick and tired of gluing things that really shouldn't have to be glued by the customer. So far I like the Mustad hooks as well.

I've only used my 764CB RM once, but was quite impressed with the rod. I was equally impressed with my new 6th Sense Crush Flat 75X. One of several 6th Sense lures I've added to the crankbait box.

My new Revo Winch is a far better reel on several points than the Lews Super Duty I had.

I have lures by Megabass, Lucky Craft, Duo Realis and 6th Sense I have yet to get wet.

I'm using my Chronarch Ci4+ on a topwater rod I use for buzz baits and "walk the dog" type topwaters.

It's definitely as good as advertised thus far.

I'm jealous of that Hog on the Pompadour - I've thrown mine a few times now and still have yet to even get a blow-up on it, let alone actually catch a fish!

Maybe this weekend...
