Just what the title says....anything and everything related to Rods, Reels, Terminal Tackle, Plastics, what others are using, what works, what doesn't work, and anything else you want to talk about regarding equipment.

New gear you want to try

Post by CNs »

Time for that annual new gear thread.

What new gear have you acquired and are looking to try or new gear you are waiting to get.

I'll start:

Waiting to get:

Rapala BX Brat crank baits
Daiwa Tatula CT 5:1 ratio

Waiting to try:

Daiwa Steez XT701xfs Spinning rod. Looks like it will be an awesome drop shot rod
Daiwa Tatula jerkbait rod (can't remember the model )
Daiwa Balistic LT 3000 spinning reel
Daiwa Tatula LT 2500 spinning reel

(Hey whats with all the Daiwa stuff? )

Owner swingblade jigs/spinnerbaits?
Strike King Mr Crappie Joker (soft bait)
First Mate Lures Crappie Tubes

This off season has been a quiet one in terms of fishing gear...

I bought a few more 110's in the new Canada limited colour (which look awesome by the way) and a few items off here that I want to try.

Biggest for me will be the new boat. Can't wait to get it on the water. Between it and the substantial upgrade in graphs, I have a lot to learn.

As for items I want that I haven't bought yet...

- Shimano Bantam reel. It looks so interesting, I may sell off one of my Calcutta Conquests to buy one.
- Jackal Grinch. This lure came out last year overseas but is only now available here and judging by me experience with another similar product, I can't see this being a bad lure at all.
- I'll also be buying a new drop shot rod. I am growing tired of re-rigging the rod I use now as I throw a wacky rig on it 50% of the time and DS with it the other 50%. On a tournament day, it gets frustrating and is time consuming to retie each different method.

I've picked up a couple of the new Zodias Crankbait rods, I'll be wearing em out in a few weeks on Lake Champlain.. :D

Clients will be enjoying some of the newly designed Loomis E6X and Curado K's.

Bought a Lowrance auto-pilot then had to buy a Lowrance HDS-7 Gen3 touch to make it work. Had too!
Hoping to be at Quinte Monday morning. HDS-7 installed hopefully but no pilot yet.

Hey Guys,

I picked up a Kastking assassin for the heck of it. Read a lot of good reviews and pretty hard to complain at $80. I will post a reply and let everyone know if they are decent or not. For me i'm most excited for my new Crestliner. Gonna be a sweet summer!

Cheers and tight lines.

Awesome pick up Norm. That is one lure I have yet to try. I've got a few pompadours that I would use in place of it though. Let us know how it works.

Got a package from Digitaka today, containing replacements for my SS700 and SS1300 (will still keep them as backups/beaters). Plan to break in the 2000S-XH during the bass opener this weekend.
