New Here

Postby fishingdad » Fri Aug 05, 2016 9:54 pm

Hi, my name is Ben, I live near Alexandria, Ontario. I am 35 and a father to 4 great kids. I have a small commercial construction business that keeps me busy and pays the bills.
When I was a kid a family friend introduced me to shore fishing along the Thames River near Mitchell, Ontario. Well life brought changes and as I became more busy with life and work the fishing stopped.... Now recently we bought a 1986 Blue Fin Sportsman and started cruising and fishing a little on the Nation River and my two boys have fallen in love with fishing, so Im here to learn to fish again and get to know other people who love the sport and the water as much as I do.

Welcome to the site Ben. Congrats on the new boat and the Nation is a great river to fish with Kids as there is lots to catch. Troll gold spinner and worms on the edge of the weed lines for walleye and crappie works great and a white Big O works for them Bass and the odd walleye on the river.

Great to hear from you, welcome to the site!

Don't forget that fishing doesn't stop when the weather gets cold. The Nation has some great ice fishing opportunities too! If you make it into Shirley's Bay this winter you and your kids are welcome to visit my teeny-tiny shack for some hot-cocoa and a bit of fishing!
