Fishing has been missed but not forgotten !

Postby nesbot » Fri Jan 12, 2018 4:56 pm

Hello all! I used to fish a lot in my youth (a long time ago now!) and have always enjoyed fishing. We started off with catching a lot of smallmouth since that was the only game fish in the lake my relatives had a cottage on. Eventually a friend and I got a car topper canoe (modded with seats, trolling motor and speakers!) so we could venture to new waters and new fish.

Fast forward many busy years with a wife and 2 boys (now 11 & 6) and fishing has been missed but not forgotten. My oldest has been shore fishing since he was about 5 and has always had a long attention span. The last few years though, much to my pleasure, his interest level is increasing and he now researches the different baits on his own! My youngest just got a hand-me-down tackle box and is trying to perform trades everyday with my oldest for new "squishy" baits! His attention span is getting longer and did well to catch a few fish this past summer from shore.

I would love to foster the interest and rejuvenate mine again this summer, as we are considering a boat for this year. I "think" my wife is even slowly getting on board (pun intended!).
