Deep River camping trip report

Post by Lvace »

A bunch of us make it out every year for a camping trip where we get to escape for 3 days the wives, kids and daily routines... We have found a nice little peace of paradise a little boat ride from Deep River!! Good friends, lots of food, beers and FISHING!! The boat ride up is very relaxing!

Image

Get to our spot set up eat quickly and lets get fishing!! Went back to my little found spot from last year and it did not take long to find them bass. They where everywhere and this guy was the best one before it was time to head back for campfire beer and food...

Image

Next day wake up late but meh we are in no hurry to do anything just go with the flow so a little breakfast and we make the call to get some walleye for supper... Lets go bottom bouncing.. The eyes played ball, no real size but I had the numbers. 2 of my friends that came along for the eyes did not fair as well on them but one of them said I think I am snagged until nope there is something there :D A nice pike in 24ft of water...

Here is the average size of the eyes, not huge but tasty!

We head back to camp and relax some more for a bit and alright lets go get some more bass.... The action was non stop! We missed a few here and there  but we where never bored... Here are some of the better ones

That night was very relaxing!

11pm under that moon my buddy gets a call from his pregnant wife that is 5 weeks out... I am having contractions every half hour so start up the little motor and bring him back to Deep River 7km or soso in the dark.... We wish him all the luck !! Next morning wake up to having rain and wind from hell with 3ft white caps in the main part of the river so we all wait it out... While packing down I found this little dragonfly coming out of its nymph shell on my shoe

Main channel is a lot calmer by now so we load up the boats and we are off

Tight lines!

Nice work Ivace! That part of the Ottawa from Fort William up to Swisha is the nicest part of the river IMO.

Loved the shots and report lvace! Some great trips can be had with a small motor and boat!! I have done the same thing on some remote stretches of the Gatineau River.

LOL! Ask lvace what side of the Ottawa that was on!

All kidding aside scuro, not much compares to the beauty of Algonquin Park and many stretches of The Ottawa all the way up to Témiscaming/Thorn area.
