What have you learned this year (ice fishing)

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

The word monster and ice fishing fits well together....but I would really like some insight on what a monster should look like.......just kidding Paul!

Best thing about it is the fact that I have meet some real nice guys on the board...to me it means lots!!!

Since I am a loner when Summer fishing comes around ice fishing is the time for me to get to know a few of you.

Quite often this summer you will get the feeling your being watched
when your fishing for "" Monsters "" in your secret places..........

And when you pick up your binoculars to see who it is ....................

I have learned that the more time you spend icefishing the more fun you have.

Biggest thing I learned this year is two things...1) When the wife says " Well since the baby is coming in the middle of July you can get all the ice fishing in you want" really means " If you go out more than 3 times this season I will make sure your life is terrible.... 2) Aqua-Vu's are great....Great for setting up over here and watching your tip up over there go down...Hard and into the hole... . Always when setting that darn thing up I would get a hit of a lifetime. Anyway I hope to get out one more time around the 22nd..Anyone think there will still be good ice.

Here's the most important thing i learned...........................

No use fishing the month of february or the first part of march

So far we have very little to show for , 4 or 5 pike from lake xxx
and 40 or 50 small mouth bass

Like yesterday we were foolish enough to give lakexx a try. walk through
waist deep snow to get to the lake and there was 6'' of slush on the lake

and the result ...............nothing notta zilch

Bass Addict, you should start a diary and record air pressure against fishing results.
I believe that there is a general trend that the bite goes quiet for a few days after a low moves through. Can be good fishing before and during, but quiet after.
Of course, that could be an old wives tale.
At risk of hijaking the post.........Any opinions?
