Gold and Grey - On the road with Luke and Duke

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

One question though Luke......Do you double dip your coating or just a single coat??
Usually a single layer on fish (usually thin, don't want to have more breading than fish)

Double up when breading any type of meat or poultry.
MEAT - Grind it, stuff it, smoke it.

Good stuff Luke!

Too bad about the lack of eyes but looks like the lakers more then made up for it.

That's a report and then some Luke. Amazing skies for the pup shots... you should frame one of 'em. Quinte's pretty hit and miss... as are walleye. Your lakers made up for the miss. Good show.

Nice lakers, Chef Fatluke.

You take the hum drum food and make it sublime. Tease, though, with no final plate presentation!

Nice to share such experiences in the outdoors with your canine companion. Some times they are hard to beat in regards to a fishing bud. He is a fine looking dog; like RJ, I think labs are fantastic companion animals. A great blend of friendly and smart.

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Luke... can you tell me more about this auger setup you are using?

It intrigues me.

Great report. Super pics.

Too bad about going down swinging on the 'eyes.

Looks like you made up for it on the trout.

Thanks for the report, pics and cooking ideas.

That's exactly what is was.

Craig, my buddy called me tonight and said he put the auger blade on his 18V drill and drilled 6 holes through 16" of ice, the battery was still good for more. He was not fishing, he just stopped by the lake to try it out.

I think the key is just having a good auger, with good blades. He had a brand new 8" Fin-Bore on it and the blades were like razor blades. I would be curious to see how it would work with blades that are not as sharp. This Fin Bore had so much bite, that you had to keep pulling up on the unit to stop it from biting so deep and binding up. He said even with the 18V on low speed it still had almost too much bite.

Anyway it certainly opens up my mind for a "portable" power auger for situations when you may want to pack light.
