Rideau Ferry Yacht Club

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Rideau Ferry Yacht Club

Post by BigDaddyD »

Hi I was away this weekend in North Bay Ice fishing so I did not get a chance to check out the Rideau.
Anyone know how thick the Ice is after this weekend and if people are driving on or not yet.

Was there huts out this past weekend, I guess I'll be walking on this Saturday. Its a little more work but not as much work as pulling a truck out.

I was out on Saturday and Sunday. It is still open in the main channel towards Stonehouse Island, however it isn't stopping people from driving out there. I walked out Saturday about 0.5km from the yacht club and there was 12-14"(+/-) of ice and drove out to the same spot last night... kinda iffy.

My Wife tells me I how much the fish i catch cost because of my addiction to buying fishing gear. Than price is going to sky rocket if my truck go's through. Ha.

I was at launch on Saturday .. counted about 8 trucks/SUVs on the ice. Two of which were out in main channel between stonehouse island and briggs island. Nutz!!
While I was checking things out with binoculars a 3/4 ton went put pulling a trailer.
Spoke to a few people and they said it was 14" about 100 metres or so straight out from launch. When I went over the bridge I saw open water .. not sure if it is water on ice or open area. I heard there were two big pressure cracks down the middle of the channel.
Safe enough for me now .. within reason with my quad and ski-doo. I will head out on weekend with the kids.
