Shirley's Bay road closed

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Can confirm, road is a mess but there were some snowmobile tracks. Got an 18 and two 14 inchers and a few dinks. Bite is still good, another beautiful sunset tonight too! Was surprised how few people were out there tonight

Had a good night on the bay tonight. Watched a few trucks and a jeep try to get through the road tonight..... Didn't happen road is snowed in. Only way out sled, quad or heel toe express.

During all the entertainment, we managed 4 nice burbot !!! biggest was 20.5. Will post pics when I can figure out how. oh and 3 little eye, and a perch.

Was out at Shirley's Bay yesterday afternoon.
Someone was plowing a road out part. I am not sure how far or where he was plowing but while I was there he went straight out launch and then turned and was going parallel to shore.
Be careful if you are heading out on a snowmobile and crossing over the plowed area. Some of the banks were looking 6 feet plus in height. If you hit one of those in the dark it could cause some damage.

Plowing with a truck ontariorider?
Just got back from shirley's, road looks to have been cleared partially yesterday by the same person who did it before. path heads to trailer on far right closest to shore.
As of now, its still sled or heel toe express only, its drifted in again and they are pretty solid.
Ultimately the problem with wind  but what're ya gonna do.

Yes .. it looked like a 3/4 tonne truck.

It was so windy I think it was drifting over behind them as they were going.
Definitely sled or heel-toe is the only way to get out.

Just wondering. Does anyone still put shacks out or just fish off the end of Grandview Rd anymore?? Back in the 90's there used to be a few. From what I recall the fishing there was ok. Buds moved their shack there for a couple of years trying to get away from the crowds back then.

Cheers

No shacks out there for a long time. I still fish there every now and then. Jay st is public water access. There is lots of parking at the park. And the walk to deep water is a lot shorter than in the bay.
Good to know Choke. Tks for that. That might be quite handy for someone still wanting to get out but not have such a long walk to deep water like at Shirley's.
