Setting up musky fishing groups for Saturday

Post by M.T. Livewell »

Guys (and ladies), while FH is just one man and cannot fish at all of the hot musky locations this weekend, I am going to take a kick at the can and maybe we can set up little mini FishHawk outtings for the various locations for this Saturday.

If I do this poll thing right, pick your intended launch location. I am heavily considering Wendover and therefore will gladly "organize" that chapter. Hopefully someone will step forward for the other locations.

Choices...

Post by Seaweed »

Well I will fish the Ottawa and probably out of Wendover with MT. I would love to see loads of boats again this weekend and I will volunteer to pick up suckers if anyone needs any. Personally I am going to be buying a Suick ... perch coloring and working that till I can`t hold my rod anymore.

BTW, here is how I hope to see things shape up for the Wendover chapter ...

Launch 7:30 am ish.
Fish till ... my arm falls off. Might be a good idea to have a 1pm meeting at the launch to send off those fishing only a half day.

FYI, Petrie Island Bait and tackle opens at 6:30am if you want live bait (at least that was when they opened all summer).

Seaweed, looking forward to shaking your paw.

Spinner, looking forward to the company.

Yee haw!

We need some muskie schooling

Post by Seaweed »

Wouldn`t it be nice if TrophyMuskie aka Richard Collins could come up and give us all just one tip on muskie in the Ottawa...? :D

I know... its a business but hey some of us rookies need some tips.

I imagine he is tying in to some monsters these days.

The weather forecast is looking pretty lousy for Saturday ...

12 degrees
60% chance of showers
15Kmh winds.

I know this is typically 'rough' weather for fishing the Ottawa River. Not that I am overly concerned, or looking to back out. Rather, I know that the Rideau is fairly narraw (as compared to the Ottawa), and because of the concentration of muskies around the bridges, there might be some better cover to avoid the elements.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Note again, I am not backing out of the Wendover location just yet, but am seriously considering moving Rideau way if it will make the fishing that much more comfortable.

Saturday - Rain forcast

Post by Seaweed »

I too noticed that there is rain called for on Saturday now... so I went to all of the good weather websites and after close inspection of all satellite loops of weather conditions and movements I can tell you that there will be sunshine on Saturday... brief rain and then the sun will reemerge for the perfect late afternoon and evening hours. The wind is needed to catch lunge... or it helps.

Stay tuned -

www.theweathernetwork.com

Go to the Satellite and Radar Maps

Click on the Ontario & Quebec map

Click on the arrow right logo

Watch as it goes into motion you will see a classic break developing in the cloud cover in a line from Thunder Bay to the bottom tip of James Bay. This will be our Saturday weather maker and should bring Sunshine.

I have been wrong in the past though so don`t quote me on this. I am not a weatherman or meteorologist or anything but I am getting very good at reading and predicting weather.... maybe that is why I can`t catch fish?

I can`t really afford to drag the boat all the way out to the Rideau again this weekend though so I will be working the Ottawa out of Wendover or if that falls though I will be launching from Petrie.

Another quick weather link for Ottawa weather is here:

My boss was so impressed by the photo's from last Saterday he's asked if i could take him out, i smell a raise if the fish cooperate!!!!!!!Last Saterday both Topwater and I caught our fish while trolling a J-13 jointed repala Topwater was using a trout color and I was using a gold with a red belly, this Saterday I'm going to try live bait, can anybody tell me the proper way to rig large minnows and the proper way to fish them???
Any help will greatly appercated!!!!!!

Weather Reports

Post by Seaweed »

I still think that most of the rain is going to fall south of the city like it has all year.

Haven`t made up my mind yet but I am probably going to be either on the Ottawa out of Wendover (depending on wind) or on the Rideau out of Taylor park with MT Livewell.

Those West Enders!

60% of showers - Showers! Brief escape from the grueling sun
10KM Wind - 10KM - slight breeze to lessen the amount of trolling motor

= Excellent day in Rockland
