Nicknames / About You
We had a thread like this a couple of years back and it was a fun way to get to know a little more about some of the other Hawk Talkers on the site. Since we have so many new folks on board since then, perhaps it would be a good getting-to-know-you opportunity.
Firstly, if you've got a Hawk Talk nickname that you use here or in everyday life, how did you go about earning that handle? (For example, my friend, "Plowjock" ...now there's a name that makes folks curious. )
Secondly, if you feel like sharing it, what do you do for a living?
We had some really great participation the last go round. I hope people will jump on in and have some fun with this. And by the way, if you remember this thread from last time, why not repeat yourself for those who weren't members yet?
W.
PS: My FH.Net handle is not particularly interesting. "Wolfe" is for Wolfe Lake...my favorite hang out since childhood. Wolves happen to be my favorite animal, so that worked out, too. I'm an at-home mother of 2 boys; prior employment was as a Clinics Coordinator and office support for kidney specialists at a local hospital.

I had the number 4 for many years when I was playing hockey. It's been a lucky number for me. I have no reason to had it 3 times though.....444 was one way to set up my account. Big bass is popular but I like it.Since I am a LMB fisherman before anything else I choosed to go with it anyways.

eye-tracker - I enjoy tracking down walleye and spend all of my time on the water fishing for ol' marble eyes. I got this nick name years ago when I was 12years old during a family fishing trip because I won big fish family derby by taking out the only boat all the adults would let me use - row boat. I spent the day trolling, well rowing a point and caught the only walleyes of the whole week well all the rest of the crew fished from nice boats with motors .
When I am not fishing walleye I am developing enterprise java solutions for Fortune 500 and International Corporations. (In short I am a computer nerd)

Well many of you will remember me from the previous go round of this thread. I spent the better part of 40 years working and involved in agriculture. From growing crops to breeding real good dairy and beef cattle. Hence the Plow part of my name. I have also been involved in playing sports for the better part of 50 years hence the jock part of my name, and I'm still involved playing oldtimer hockey with a bunch called the Old Buzzards.
Now after the Wolfe Howl up on Constance Lake late last winter I had thought about changing my name to "Ol phart" as it seems I'm about the oldest Hawktalker going. There might just be one exception in McQ.

Family name McCue, live and fish in Quebec. So McQ it is.
I try hard to make a bit of a living from the fishing & tourism business. Some times are better than others but the fishing and helping others is always great.
Hand tie walleye harnesses on a custom order basis and sell quite a few to the tournament guys. Keeps me busy through the winter.
Participate in and monitor 67 fishing websites sharing information with others and also moderate walleye forums on a couple of them.
Regularly sit in here at Fish-Hawk - you guys are the reason for that.
You're right Plowjock er''' Ol'Phart, I have reached a stage in life where I can laugh in my senior moments.

When I first went online I wanted something I could remember for all the passwords and accounts and this was easy to remember plus I'm from "Gan" and ehmm um...I am a man. It was also easy for my friends to remember too as I use it for my email address also. It's amazing how many people from the area know that Gan means Gananoque.
Now I think the name sounds moronic and I'm thinking about changing it but I also think it's kinda funny in a juvenile way.

I've had many nick-names, most of which I can't mention here, but as long as I can remember I was rather wide! Since I've lost that look now I guess it's time to say good-bye to BigJoe!
So say hello to Joisey Joe!
As Al P. once said in a famous movie"Say hello to my little friend"!

I guess I picked that name for this board because after reading some of your stories and the places you go I was really LOST. I've done all my fishing in Canada for over 20 years in the Thunder Bay area and to the northwest of there. I have one big question for you all. Why are the Thunder Bay people so different from the fisherman in your area? Over there they don't want to tell you anything or give you any help. They act like everything is a trade secret. Since talking on this sight and reading the post it seems like you all are a warmmer bunch of people and I'm looking forward to meeting some of you at one of your get together fishing trips. I'm retired because I'm diabetic and enjoy coming up there every chance I get to camp and fish. I've already sent McQ a note telling him to count me in on one of his trips in 2007. It sounds like there is a wealth of knowladge about fishing over in your area. Would like to learn more about what waters you have to fish on the eastern side of Ontario.
