I'm new to this board and have found it to be a great wealth of knowlege.
I've seen several references to leeches as bait.Hate to admit being a dummy, but what species are they good for.Never used them here in Ohio.

Bass and walleye love them, and welcome to the board.

Leeches

Many game fish love them. These leeches are not the ones most people are familiar with. They are black in colour and have a very tantalizing action. They also don't attach themselves to living things and suck the blood out as there family members the pale ones do. You can place these on your hands and remove them easily. They tend to be pricey and need cool water to keep them alive but are an excellent bait....larry

They're pretty close to being the best for walleyes at this time of the year, right after nightcrawlers. They'are very easy to keep for long periods of time, I have some in my fridge that have been there since the first week of May but they need to be kept in cold water. I like to slowly drift with a lindy rig and a leech on a bare red hook.

... and don't forget to change the water (non-chlorinated) every week or so.
