i've had the last week off to fish with my father in law from Calgary. We had an amazing time and caught a lot of fish (a few days over 30 fish landed). I wanted to share my personal best largemouth bass which i caught monday afternoon. we were just letting the wind blow us down a shoreline that dropped off to about 8' of water. i was fishing a tube jig towards the deeper water and had caught a few 1.5lbers. We had just drifted into the mouth of a little bay. I made a long cast toward the edge of a weedbed in deep water and as soon as my jig hit the water there was a large swirl and i set the hook into what i figured was a small musky. Then i saw its head. i knew i had on a really good bass.
it put up an excellent fight during which i may have screamed like a little girl a few times. we got it to the boat and took 2 quick pictures and placed her back in the lake to fight another day.
here's the pic
I took a quick measurement between photos and it was 20" for sure (didn't spend much time on it). I don't own a scale but that fish is fat enough that my fingers sunk into it. So i'm going to say it was pretty heavy.
i was pretty pumped. its been an awesome summer for bass fishing and this is my biggest ever .
Sure is a beauty, a little chart I have put out by Northland tackle gives an aproximate weight for a 20 inch largemouth as 5lbs and 6.6lbs for a 22 inch largemouth, so yours certainly fits in that slot for sure. Congratulations.
