The Ottawa , this morning

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

The Ottawa , this morning

Post by muskymatt »

I went out early with my friend and fishing partner Deckard for some early morning muskie. It was georgeous on the water, sun was creeping up and an early morning mist was on the water wind out of the west and conditions were perfect.
After hitting a few favoriye spots we found a nice troll along a weed line off shore.
On the first pass I nailed a very healthy fat 34" muskie that destroyed my spinnerbait.A couple pics and then a healthy release.

Moments later Deckard nailed on 100yrds away.Another really healthy 34" and a little fatter than mine. And it destroyed his spinnerbait

We had a good laugh over that

Not the biggest muskies but still were fun to catch and even better we both hooked up :D

We covered a lot of water today and man was it beautiful, we sure gave the Evinrude a workout.

Thanks Deckard it was a great morning on the water.

Pics will come soon

Hey Matt, which end of the river do you usually fish? Do you ever fish up near Constance Bay area, I hear it has good musky fishing. Also up near Quyon below the hydro lines. Just curious because Clown Worship and I fish this area of the river more than any other areas, especially the bay.

I have fished from Renfrew all the way to Hawksbury.
I will fish different sections at different times of year, but the lower is my favorite all year round stretch.
There are good spots everywhere on the river, you just have to know how to find them.

C.bay I've heard is good but I haven't fished it very often.

Joco ,it was like they were in a full feeding mode.
You could feel and see the fish in their bellies.Very aggressive fish and fought like they were a lot bigger.

I could only be so lucky to catch a muskie with a girth like mine

Maybe someday

Good to hear you landed some fish. We went out on Friday evening, one musky follow and one large pike.
