Rideau lunker

Post by HogHunter »

Early yesterday morning I made my way down to my favorite bass hole in Ottawa (the heat had me up anyway, might as well be fishing). This spot has coughed up a couple of 4 pounders and alot of 3 and the action is always there.

One night a monter bass blew up on my friends cane toad and again on his spinnerbait but for some reason didn't get hooked (I've razzed him ever since).

Well yesterday he hit again (I assume it was him as it was in the exact same spot). I was using a blue and black bleeding 1oz Strike King jig tippped with a like coloured eager beaver. As soon I gave it a little bounce the rattles pee pee him off and with a huge swirl he creamed it and I put the hooks to him. He fought surprisingly well for a largie too.

Now, I am as a full of !@&$ as the next guy, and worse when it comes to fishing but this fishe hit the scales at 6.2 pounds and the picture does it no justice at all. He was just old looking and really broad and chunky. Got him back after a quick pic so I can knock on his door again someday.

Nice bucket there HH !! Gotta love the fight of a big largemouth in the shallows.

Glad to see that someone is out there pounding the waters and getting rewarded during this heat wave.

Thanks alot guys! It's tough to find good shorefishing in a city and when you finally do and get rewarded for it, that's what fishing, for me, is all about...God I need a boat :) Thanks again.
