Good St. Lawrence muskie caught?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

The fish is the size of a canoe. Despite her fate(the fish) this is what it's all about for those in search of Essox. There will be a margin between succsess and loss to both involved in this game. It's gonna be real tight sometimes.
I've asked my Grandma to knit me a little sweater....not sure what looks better, firetiger or bumblebee.

 INCREDIBLE FISH  :!: :!:....
If Winnipeg gets a hockey team, Toronto will want one too.....

I'm still in awe after seeing that pic. Sad that she couldn't be released but if she wasn't going to survive...well, that's a dif story. I personally don't agree with the 99% survival release rate. Only the fisherman himself/herself knows truly the stress put on the fish and other circumstances.

(MrJ. can attest to "other circumstances" and he's a strict catch/release man).

At any rate, simply amazing fish! Congratulations!!

Can't really come up with the words to do a catch like that justice. She's a beaut!

I hear ya wolfman,
I saved the picture and have looked at it a dozen times or more since it was poster....

I recall someone posting earlier this year too about a youngster who caught a fish about that size as well from shore in that area.

I definitly think I will have to put some time in the Ganonoque/1000 islands area next year... unfortunalty wouldn't know where to start....

Anyone here fished musky in that area??

Eddie next year? There is still a month of fishing left :D I know the area pretty good if you are intrested shoot me a PM. Sal's fish isn't eligable for the live release board so that spot is still up for grabs

Eddie43. If your going down to Gananoque to fish be prepared to put in tons of hours. The fish are few and far between but.......the opportunity for a monster is there. The prerequisite for catching a fish in that area is time on the water.

So i've heard, especially with the die offs the past few years... I would still rather fish my lifetime to catch a fish like that...hopefully they will still be plentiful in largr numbers in the future.... Has there been any news on the cause of the musky die-offs in teh st.lawrence?

Does it get any better than that? What a beautiful fish, markings, colour, length, shape, and just HUGE to boot.
