Constance Lake Ice Conditions

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Constance Lake Ice Conditions

Post by Kenny »

It looks like 90% of the areas we fish are now good enough to walk on at least. Does anyone know the ice conditions on Constance Lake. I never ice fished on that lake and was wondering what to expect in terms of the number of anglers and ice thickness. I do not want anyone driving up to me with a light truck only to discover we are both on 6 inches of ice.

This is a great lake in the summer for the kids. Cast a red and white Mepps in line and you can catch 20 or 30 little Pike a just a few hours. There is also a great perch population that go nuts on the Mepps as well. You will not get size but if you want Pike action you can get a truck load of 9-12 inch pike.

Constance Lake Ice

Post by 'Bass'aria »

Fished constance on sunday with a shack. The ice is over 12 inches thick and safe for a pick up truck or less.
We caught 25 perch, 2 pike, and lost 5 or so pike to frozen tipups!
Good lake for steady fish (small in size). 8)

As for bait to use on Constance go see Bowzog at Bits and Baits as he had his trailer on there all last winter and can give you good advice on what worked best for him last year.

Best baits on Constance Lake for us last year were butterworms for the panfish(perch, pumpkinseed and crappie) and 4"-5" golden shiners for the pike. :) ......a big sucker on a tip-up might get ya a bigger pike too! :o :)
I'm a goin' fishin', mama's goin' fishin' and my baby's goin fishin' too.

We'll be there around 7:30 or so.

Look for a black ram with a couple of kids running around.

I've never been there so I can't give you directions to where I'll be. I don't think its too big of a place though.
