Some Great Spring Fishing....
Some Great Spring Fishing....
Another great Spring has passed and the fishing was fantastic....
Started off with a couple of crappie trips...took my nephew Emmerson out one night to experience it...
Then in Early May we went to SW Ontario to take part in a Salmon tournament...we worked hard all day and finished 3rd of 26 boats I think...
Came Back to Chase Gar for a few weeks...it was a short gar season this year....but an active one!
Got my Ol Fishin Buddy Big-O into his first.....47 incher to start....not too shabby...
We then moved onto Carp.....I decided I didn't want to drive to Long Sault every weekend....so I needed a local spot....after 3 weeks of searching....we hit paydirt...
Doubles are Common....our best is in the 27-28 pound range....average is about 18 pounds...
Even my Better half loves the Carpin'...
A few more weeks and Bass and Musky open....til then I'll keep on the Carp and hopefully a few more trips for Gar...After fishing at Kesagami for Pike....and Bay of Quinte for Walleyes....I just can't seem to stomach targetting them here...
Good Luck this Summer fellas...

Good Start
Wow Great Start to the Year indeed!
With Muskie and Bass season just around the corner this could be a banner year for you for sure.
Nice showing in the Salmon derby too for you all... wtg.
Those Gar look... well they probably fought hard for sure.

RJ,
I'll oblige you on this report and bump it back to the top! That was a mighty fine report and I really like the diversity in the catch. Diversity is the spice to a fisherman's life. Don't feel too bad about fishing the local waters for Walleye and Pike though. The lakes and rivers in this area are still better than most in North America. You're gettin' spoiled dude!
Nice pics! Have you ever written a "how to" on Gar fishing? I've caught them in Florida before on cut bait and in Texas on spinner baits "baited" with shredded rags, but never this far North. What's your technique?
