Fishing Maps

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Fishing Maps

Post by Billy Bones »

I like to fish different waters. There is a guy in Westmeath, up near Pembroke that sells fishing maps. Has anyone tried his maps? If so would you recommend? Will be in Cobden later in the week to give Muskrat a try. I might run into Westmeath to pick up a couple. He does have a website, listed below.

I have a bunch of his maps. For the price it is hard to find any competetive alternate maps for some bodies of water. You might want to check out TrackMaps that are available at World of Maps... these are a bit pricey but I like them too.

I find the maps very useful and it gives me an idea of where I will be most likely to find shallow water. All of these maps do state though that they shouldn't be used as reference for navigating the water... so keep a sharp eye out always for shoals and barely submerged rock.

I have used a couple of his maps and find them to be useful.

I don't know which lakes you want maps of but to save you a trip to the Spotswood resort at the very end of Westmeath Rd (if you are towing a boat the last few kms are gravel), you might want to check out the Cobden Home Hardware store on Main Street to see if they have the maps you might want.

I have also obtained some maps from Lorne and I have been very satisfied with his product. Consequently, it's very easy to recommend http://www.fishingmapsplus.com/

We carry a slew of his maps at our shop, as well as the Backroads Mapbooks.

We have a list in our forum:

I have purchased maps from these guys in the past. Nothing fancy and not for navigation but they do give a good idea on where the weeds, logs and rock bottoms etc are.
More like having a hand marked map from an old fishing buddy then a true lake map.

My good old buddy Jack at Adventure Maps has a decent selection and the maps are quite accurate, including what species of fish inhabit them. The maps are definately not for navigational purposes. Please don't tell him i sent ya.....as he may charge ya double the price!!

For decent maps for a quick reference , Lorne's and Jack's maps are both good and the price is right.

If you want maps that can also be used for navigation the the Trax maps are good. (but as noted above, they are a fair bit more money).
