spring pike fishing

Post by spinner »

With Pike season slooowwly getting closer,I thought I would have a new poll and welcome any comments you may want to add. This one will ask you what your bait/lure of choice would be for spring Pike if you only had one bait. While It may not cover all choices,I think the majority of popular choices are included in the poll.

Our last poll had 47% fishing for pike on opening day vs 42% for walleye.

Bigjoe2.
I have to believe you'll be going with your Toronto Maple Leaf inline spinner with your topwater cigar lure for back-up.

Spinner, you're the greatest! No doubt I would fill the boat in the spring with just those 2 lures! I do, however, have a few more up my sleeve. Nothing like the old Husky Jerk, the Pike suck em up. Last year I did well with good old minnows, boy did I have a ball with them, even tadpoles! Lets hope this year I have the same luck, I'll be well equiped, new stratagies and tackle, garlic scent too. 8) BigJoe.

re: results to date ... anyone plan on using spoons ?

Along with minnow baits (rapala), the syclops is hard to beat. Casts like a bullet and pike devour it...

My top three would be
1) rapala #9 or #13
2) syclops #3 or #2
3) spinner bait

Had a beauty on with cyclops last spring, knocked the cigar right out of my chops, alas, got it to the boat, and spitoey, bye bye Pike! Will use it again this spring. BigJoe.

Spinner Bait or Buzz bait,

Either or, PIke have always gone nuts.

Tried some different spinnerbaits this year with multiple arms and weird angled Blades. No difference.

Difference came only in colour. White and Red Spinner BAIT.

WHAM-O!
