Who likes Poppers?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I love poppers. You need to know how to make them splash and how to make the sound real deep. I use them once it's dark and pop slow and loud. works for me, although nothing beats a super spook!

The Rebel Pop R's is what I have used most often, but I've also had great success with Chug Bugs.

Generally I will wait 10 or 15 seconds after splashdown before I begin a steady chugging retrieve back to the boat, one chug every two or three seconds. And every chug I strive for a "gloop" sound as the front of the bait pushes the water forwards.

If that doesn't work, change the cadence of the retrieve. gloop gloop pause gloop gloop pause gloop gloop pause.

I had a channel cat take a Pop R once. What a surprise.

And I catch largemouth and smallies with them too.

big-o and topwater

Thank you for clarifying. I thought I was losing my mind there.

Your mutual dad is an amazing guy. If it's mechanical and broken, he can fix it.
