Carp bait?
Carp bait?
Hello does anyone have any recommendations for bait(s) to use for carp? I have heard everything from bread to chicken livers. I have seen carp alot and caught a couple accidently over the years fishing for something else. My sons want to try their luck with carp.
Thanks,

like you said from liver to bread. i've had great success early season before the weeds start to grow. all i use is a pickeral rig with worm. biggest carp last year was 25 pounds!!!!! cast as far as you can, stand your rod up and make sure the line is tight, you'll be able to see bites instantly. you shouldn't have problems finding the carp, just wait a little bit to let the water go down.
i've also heard of people baiting their carp. for 6 days straight they'll go and toss out chopped up worms (or what ever bait you plan on using the day of fishing, the 7th day) at the same spot and same time, for 6 days straight, and then on the 7th day, at the same time that you usualy go out and toss out worms, dont go out and "pre-feed" them like you have for the past 6 days. instead you go there and cast out to where you've baited them. and they'll be there waiting for that free snack that they have been used to for the past 6 days. but they don't know that the free lunch isn't so free, comes with a little suprise!! a hook.
anyways i've never tried it, but plan on giving it a go this spring!
good luck

CORN...bring a couple can off corn..shaep ones..trow them in a area(no current) wait and put some corn on your hook and trow in in the middle off where you bait before and wait...
simple.
but its not alwasy that simple..but it i can be.
worm is good to.
you can make it special..carp fishing baiting and tacktic etc.and use fancy equipement...carp rod buzzer rod pod etc etc.there great tools.
but if you are in it just for a fun off it..the equipment you have now..and simple bait.
if you think you will go a couple time.........i suject you go at rich and feeds and buy a bag off corn..you will have it for a long time.
look on the net...carp+fishing..you will find a tons off info.

Hi,
What we usually do is chum the water where we are going to be fishing with either boiled, or soaked corn from the feed store. and then we use a hair rig with 3-4 kernals of corn on it, or we use boilies( on the same rig), they are a manufactured dough ball. most of them smell like roting pineapple. but they work really well.
good luck!
