Opening day shore fishing

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Where do you guys think the best place to shore fish on opening day is?
Will travel if necessary. Can't make it to the camp this spring.

That sounds tempting crazyhook. I'll get back to you on that. I've got a car. I'm always up to trying somewhere new though. Ever fished off the islands on the Champlain bridge?

Opening Day

Don`t forget to check out the mouth of the Jock River where it dumps in to the Rideau. You can find it off of Hwy. 16 just before the Manotick cut-off. This area holds a lot of snags but the snags hold fish so use something that floats and work it in slow stopping to let it rise and then reel in more. This area holds walleye and some other species.... some of the walleye I've seen come out of there were really nice.

Enjoy.

The best place is in Manotic by the old mill. It may be a busy place this weekend but we always got some huge walleyes every opening weekend there.
Catch and release them all
