Wally opening Ottawa - Where's everyone going ?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Wally opening Ottawa - Where's everyone going ?

Post by fishboch »

Well I'm fairly new to this board but I've been fishing in this area since I've been big enough to hold a rod. I have my father to thank for that. Miss you Dad. Anyways we've tried many places over the years for opening day. Most of them have been on the Ottawa from Shirley's Bay up to Arnprior and up the Madawaska. Just wondering where everyone else will be heading and what you favorite spot is. Looking for some new ideas whether is river or lake doesn't matter. On that note I haven't tried many lakes for openers except Clear Lake back when it was reopened for walleye quite a few years ago. I know a few walleye lakes up round Calabogie but again never tried them for opening day. So there's a few questions in all my rambling..... lake or river and where's your favorite ?
Hope to meet up with some of you out on the water soon. I'll be in the 16ft Misty River with the camouflauged motor ( unless I find a new one soon). Hope to see you out there.

Calabogie lake has been stocked with Walleye but I have never fished it.

Will be fishing Mississippi Lake this weekend which has a decent population of Walleye.

The Rideau River also has Walleye but I think the numbers are not that great but than again I fished for Bass and Muskie only on the Rideau River.

Good luck this weekend.

Cheers,

Mike

Check your regs. I think Calabogie opens a week later than every where else.
