New pricing at Lebaron?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

New pricing at Lebaron?

Post by rodbreaker »

O.K,first off,im not trying to start a big bashing thread on this,So please be good :D

Does anyone know why the prices at Lebaron have gone up?Im looking to buy a new rod and the price went up 30 bucks!!Yet...at BPS in T.O its still at the last years price, same item number? From what i can see its not a market thing its simply a Lebaron thing.

The dollar exchange rate.

That's the reason why. Simply put last year the lonie was on par with the greenback. Now we're $0.81 to the dollar.

So if that is the case a $100 rod should be $119? Right?

New stock verses old stock?

Jamsers is bang on. The CDN dollar has taken a big hit and new stock will show the difference.

BPS most likely still has last years stock.

Pricing

Post by baitcaster »

Yup it's the dollar! Most Cdn. pricing has gone up 25% from last year! I priced a walleye combo that I was selling last year for $129 and it will not be $169. I'm noticing a big increase in a lot of the products. Unfortunately these increases have to get passed onto the consumer. If you can find old stock at last year's price it's a good buy. I know our Kistler rods will have a marked increase with the 2009 models so what's left of the 2008s are a great deal!

Yes,

But with a weaker $$$ means its more attractive for foreign business to invest in Canada. When the Loonie is on par its isn't as lucrative to have investments here.

My point is its better to pay $40 more for a rod, but still have a job!

Although more and more places are closing shop. Makes me wonder what they did with all the "profits" during good times????

I noticed it as well when I went in to pick up some flurocarbon around X-mas time.....it had jumped 4 bucks....

Exchange is the culprit without a doubt....

You should see how bad gun prices fluctuate!
1 minute its good the next minute horrible!

They'd change prices all the time on those based on the dollar. Regardless of what the actual price to them was!

Anyone is business has to sell their products for what it costs to replace them now....not what they paid for it...

I agree with you RJ,

You have to sell it at enough profit to bring in more stock at the new cost.
Agreed that fishing and hunting gear is not the same as a commodity..like oil, wheat, coffee etc. It will have price fluctuations....

Harley Davidson prices in 2003 compared to what they were in 2008.
In 2003 a Ultra Classic would run ya $40K in 2008 they were listed at $26K.....

People trading up were pee pee as they lost a TON on the trade in value.

Why did they trade though?
Stock motor went from 88CI to 96CI. 2003 was the 100th anniversary editions, 2008 was the 105th anniversary editions.

Case in point the dealership I got mine at had a 2003 Heritage Softail for $16K but new you could get one for $19. That Hertage in 2003 was $20K+

i gues you right boys.

like jamser said..price drop a lot..just look at trucks..

ex..you can get a brand new dodge hemi for 27 000 that was 43 000 in 2007.

this 16 000 les plus the tax on that plus the % on that so a guy save more then 20 000 at all.wow.

good time to buy a truck...if you dont mind the gAZ GOING BACK UP..IT WILL.

Last September I was told by many people in the fishing industry in the USA to look for a 20% increase in goods across the board for 2009 because of the increased cost in manufacturing, shipping and raw materials. Now come 2009 and a standard Canadian dollar you are seeing even a higher increase in Canada. Go price some aluminum boats this year and I am sure your jaw will hit the ground.

Simple - They paid taxes to the government on all those profits.
