Bigger Brookies from the North
Good evening fellow Hawkers, well them speckled trout that I caught yesterday tasted so good I had to sneak out this afternoon for some more. (5 min from the house) Punch a couple of holes found my target depth (18 - 24 inches) set up the lines and sat quitely. Here what was iced.
A male and female, the bit was on just before 5 pm. Oh ya lost two at the hole.
Merry Christmas

Those are awesome! Maybe you could give me a couple tips, I really haven't had much luck with trout through the ice. i never where to go, what depth to fish, what kind of bottom to look for... like i say i have never had much luck and I'm thinking that it's not always because the fish won't bite that day. maybe you could slip a couple of those secrets my way

How much ice?
Always enjoy your reports!!
We're sitting with 8 plus inches of solid black ice on the inland lakes. Just did a lake recce (scouting) yesterday for another speck prospect. Should be able to ice 4 pounds out of this one....Not as close to the house (12 kms out)
