Here is the sit Rap -

I have for years slagged Ling cod, hated catching them etc. My friend said he would clean one (I dont even want to touch the smelly thing) He cleans it we :
Boil it in onion and garlic for about 7-8 minites and then dip in garlic butter - I'm not going to lie to you - it was great food!!!

Walleye good - I'm shocked, thought I would pass it on!

I'm in the same boat as CCLad -- never liked catching these as they're about 10x as slimy as a pike and 50x as smelly, BUT once you clean them, they are one of the best eating fish there is. I've eaten a TON of walleye over the years (growing up in NW Ontario will do that!) and the first, second, third, and fourth time I ate ling cod, I was astonished that they really did taste as good as walleye, and they have a fansastic, flaky texture that rivals walleye as well.

Thats what they have been reffered to (poor mans lobster) and or fresh water lobster.

GKilla - I catch them on the Ottawa, about an hour or so after dark.

Done that myself!!!

If I keep it, I eat it. Ling cod is good food.

Kinda reminds me of monk fish. Same unpleasant appearance, but A-1 on the plate. Very few bones also.

Ling is very tasty...I've ate many from Wolfe lake. They're usually very cooperative to bite and fun to catch as well!!
