A Big Night for "Big" Jim

As many of you know, in 2008 Big Jim was diagnosed with Cancer, which started his long uphill battle to kick the crap out of it. I haven't talked with Jim in a while, but have seen him posting here on our site frequently. He seems like he's doing very well, and much of that can be contributed to the huge success of the Big Jim Appreciation Night held at the Lone Star Ranch, where many of you came out to show Jim your support.
Well we're doing it again this year, and would like to provide you all with the opportunity to participate.
Date of event - Thursday, February 25th, 2010
Location - Landsdone Park, Civic Centre, Assembly Hall
Time - 7 p.m. (entry allowed until 8 p.m.)
Purpose - to continue supporting Jim, and raise some cash to help he and his family pay the medical expenses required to beat this thing....and with our help, he WILL beat it!
Ticket cost - $100
This year's event will be hosted by Bob Izumi. (Apparently my application was rejected...but I can't for the life of me understand why.. )
Since this will be the first night of the Boat/Sportsmen's Show, ticket availability for the general public may be somewhat limited, as many industry folks will be in town to grab up many available seats, so "if you want to attend, get your ticket asap".
Evening Details:
> Hot and cold hors d'oeuvres
> Cash Bar
> Raffles
> Silent and live auctons with GREAT product items (eg. trip to LacBeauchesne with Bob and Jim, signed Sens jerseys, rods/reels, outdoor equipment, non-fishing specific stuff too)
> A "roast" component of Big Jim...this will be worth the price of admission itself!!!
Ticket availability:
Tickets will be available very, very soon in most local tackle retailers, or through Wally Robins for local area tickest sales ONLY.

Wally asked me to post this, although I see many of our supporters have already indicated they have some tickets.
From what I hear, they are going fast, so don't delay.
Tickets in the Ottawa area can be purchased at:
> Paddletales in Winchester
> Bennett's in Smiths Falls
> Manotick Bait and Tackle in Manotick (Duh!)
> Bits and Baits in beautiful downtown Stittsville
> Ozile's in Orleans
> Baitcasters in Carleton Place
> Le Baron's in Ottawa

If anyone is sitting on the fence wondering if they should go, hurry up and buy your tickets. I was fortunate enough to attend the first Big Jim appreciation night(ticket #2 ) and it is a night I will never forget. It was a night full of laughs, a few tears, I made some new friends and I saw something that no-one will probably ever see again... Big Jim speechless. I am disaapointed that I can't make it this time but I send my best wsihes to Jim as well as a big thank you to Wally for doing this again for the big man.
Who is going to this Great Event?
As mentioned by Fishmaster, the first one was amazing. No dought that the second one will be even better with Bob Izumi hosting this and roasting/toasting the Big Man.
If you are thinking of going maybe this will help.
I took a sneak peek at some of the items up for grabs and WOW is all I can say.
Stay tuned for a list to be posted shortly.
I am going, who else?

Hello all,
Just a quick update on the event.....
There are tickets still available for Thursday's event for Big Jim. The night is a week away, so don't delay any longer. Drop into your nearest tackle shop or get hold of Wally as soon as you can to secure your spot.
This is an opportunity for Fish Hawkers to step up for one of our own and a lifelong supporter of this site and of the sport we all love. If you're going to be at the show, then why not get a ticket for the event and support a great man!
Here are some of the items to be auctioned off at the event....
> Kistler rods
> A Garmin GPS
> 6 signed Sens jerseys (Alfie, Spezza, Phillips, Karlsson, Neil and Fisher)
> 4 Club Seats at the March 6th Sens-Leafs game; seats are between the penalty boxes 16 rows back from ice level; this is the Hockey Night in Canada game and is completely sold out; also includes valet parking (donated by Turpin Auto World)
> 6 musky spinnerbaits from River Rat Lures
> Clam Corp Expedition Ice Shelter
> Ice Armour Suit
> 15 foot Ocean Kayak Trident angler to the prize list! (Retail: $1150+)
And I"m sure there will be more great surprises, so don't wait any longer.
