Mosquitoes
Hi Folks,
We moved to a new for us house in December that has a fair sized deck. Unfortunately the mosquitoes have found it in the evening hours. I was wondering if any of you have tried some of the new bug repelant devices out there and if they work well?
Thanks

We have a small deck outside. I purchased a Therma-Cell last year because the 'skitters just are terrible. I was suprised how good they work.
A former co-worker purchased a propane powered device at CT. He likes it but wished he would have got the bigger model.
Good luck,
DS

But last summer they were out all day and lasted the whole summer. They don't really bother me when they bite but they bother the heck out of my wife.

I have a small deck off the kitchen and we sit out almost every nite in the summer. We have an empty lot next to the deck with lots of water and the skeeters get pretty bad, we have found that putting a box fan out there helps alot, they can't get near us with the fan on! We use Deep Woods Off and citranella candles sometimes but the fan does the trick! Joe.
Mosquitoes
Thanks for the help guys. I like the sounds of the fan and therma cell.

Those #$%&@! "mozzies" as they say in Australia.
I was just wondering about those devices you can clip on to your pants, rather than douse yourself in chemicals. I doubted their efficacy, but it seems maybe they are effective after all! I will invest in one or two and give them my own trial run this spring.
Good thread.

yes...yes...yes....
Thermo-cell units are the cat's meow. I bought one a couple years ago and it's amazing how well they work. The radius I find is about 12 to 15 feet round. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes for them to really get going, but once they do, they're great. Highly recommend them.

thermo-cell
I purchased one two years ago for camping .. and the wife thought i was nuts!! Any who ... these little gizmos only work in windless environments, so don't think of using them in conjunction with a fan.
