Back on the Rideau...
OK all you gurus...I was on the Rideau again early on Tuesday morning (July 20th), 50 ft from shore in 4-5 ft of water. I was attracted there as there was a LOT of splashing happening on the surface. For 50 yds in either direction, and all around me were these huge splashing fish. Couldn't tell what they were but they were VERY big. Tried to get some pics and did, but they are in-conclusive. Some happened so close to my boat that they startled me and I almost grabbed my net. It appears there were at least two or more fish involved in each incident. This went on for almost an hour and at times there were two or three "boil-ups" going on at the same time in different spots. So my questions are 1) What are they? and 2) Are they mating, doing battle, or are they just "playing"? Some of the explosions were quite forceful in nature. I'm really curious as to what these would be...it was quite a show! I've never seen anything like that.

Carp and they were mating. The good news is that it is a spectacular thing to witness, especially at dawn. The bad news is that the bite is (almost) off during this time.
And please provide GPS location of that spot!
Hey, at least I am not asking for a secret lake's name

"The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings."

If you want to know where send me a PM. After all the fallout recently, I'm not letting a carp hotspot like this out of the bag
