Fishing Around Duck Islands Ottawa River

Plan within the next week or so to put in my boat in this section of the Ottawa. Never fished there before. What threats of "deadheads" are there in this section of the river? As well, next to physically taking me there, holding my fishing rod and catching fish,any suggestions where I could catch some walleye and/or smallies and what has been the traditional lure/technique?

In and around the islands looks like it would be really good (and I've heard of some good fish coming out of there) but personally, I've not had great luck there (i.e., a few hammer handles here and there) That said, I've picked a few monster smallmouth along the crushed rocks that are on the Ontario side right across from lower Duck Island.

I'm curious to hear if others have had success in that area and what technique's they were using.
