Ottawa River Pike

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Ottawa River Pike

Post by Crawler »

Pike in the Ottawa River seem to range below 5 pounds. Can someone tell me with what, how deep and where to simply catch any pike above 5 pounds....I fish the Rockland area..

Thanks.

SDB,

I caught a 33" incher not 3 weeks ago right at the lillys across from the launch (entrance to Lochaber). I'd put her closer to 10lbs.

They are in there, it is just that the big musky keep eating them. :D

There are lots of big pike in that stretch of the river....and muskies too!

Big White Spinnerbaits should do the trick for them...

And don't be afraid to change your presentation! If you're only catching 5 pounders or less, try a bigger brighter spinner, buzzbait, anything! Heck, I catch great Pike just with grubs when chasing Wallies.

Failing that, change the venue! There's enough places being mentioned here that should net you some big Pike and Muskie. The Ottawa is great East and West but if you prefer the Rideau is great too!

I live and fish Rockland.

For Pike quick and easy, there is the flats beside the entrance to Lochabar, or the flats and weedlines of OPP Bay.

Lots of Pike and some musky too.

I have lost many a spinnerbait to pike and musky on the Ottawa while hunting for Bass.
