Mom jut caught a bass the other day that had a tiny hook caught just on the edge of its butt!
When we were about to release it, she saw fishing line hanging out of its butt, about 6". Then I saw the smallest hook I'd ever seen snagged in its butt. It is weird that the fish actually digested and passed it!
We got it out easily, and the fish was okay.

I caught a smallie one time on Otty Lake with a round painted yellow jig head hanging out of its anal cavity. It had a leader attached hanging from inside the rectum. So the jig head with hook went through and the hook was very rusted, but the leader got caught in its internals. I managed to slowly remove the leader that had fishing line attached and he must of felt like he had a great bowl movement! lol
it was kind of grosse

What a great thread, very interesting to hear about what others have experienced. A baby muskrat -- whoa!
Apparently Spence Scout had a bass with a very similar situation to the one I just caught that Torpedo mentioned. It was actually their lucky day to have been caught again so they could have a reverse colonoscopy.
I'm just amazed they can pass a hook through their digestive tract and survive.

PS: here is the fish with the 'attachment' -- if you click to enlarge the picture, you can actually see the fishing line!

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Margie: Is that a soft cushion seat in the front of that boat and if so how did you mount the trolling motor to it?? Way off topic I know but to bring it back on topic that mouse is digested for sure.wolfe wrote:What a great thread, very interesting to hear about what others have experienced. Fishing isn't a matter of life and death....
It's much more important.

Just saw this now...almontefisher wrote: Margie: Is that a soft cushion seat in the front of that boat and if so how did you mount the trolling motor to it?? Way off topic I know but to bring it back on topic that mouse is digested for sure.
The trolling motor is not mounted to a seat, just the rim of the fiberglass bow. I think the pic might be deceiving. We just have an (elevated) fanny rest kind of seat in the front of the boat. I'm not sure what looks like a cushion to you -- maybe the red splotch behind the trolling motor? That is actually an automatic anchor.
Find your bi-focals and look again.

Well after grabbing my Bi-focals and seeing that my buddy in another post caught a laker I noticed what I thought was a padded bench was just how white and clean your edges of the walls were.
Maybe I do need to go see an eye doctor
