Ottawa River - Cumberland

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Ottawa River - Cumberland

Post by CDF »

Hi all :D ,

Thinking of fishing around Cumberland area this weekend. First time in this area...have fished Rockland area before, but haven't been to this part of the Ottawa. (Ottawa River is huge!)

Anyone care to mention any potential spots? Looking for smallies, LM, Walleye...or anything!

try the mouth of the Lievre river. There is a bit of everything there. Also if you go in the river, be very carefull as there is a big shoal. But also lots of fish. At the mouth, there is lots of weed patches. Walleye, small mouth and muskie should be available. Good luck and keep us posted.

Fishing Near Cumberland

You could try working the long submerged points that come off of Petrie Island. They hold bass, walleye, perch, pike, muskie... and all you have to do I find is motor up and drift down the side of them and throw lures at them and work them back to the boat or drift jigs with worms or minnows through the submerged sand dunes watching for walleye in the hollows between the humps. But once again watch for the big toothers too... and hang on.

Oh Yeah and the Candian Fishing Tour will be out on the river this weekend so watch for those lightning fast bass boats coming out of the backbays.... I almost got run down by a couple last year as they were heading to the weigh-in after being in a back bay all day pulling up bass.
