EOY report -- 2010

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

EOY report -- 2010

Post by lapointeric »

I've only been truly obsessed with fishing for the last 3 years, and of those 3 years, 2010 was by far the most productive and fun.

It started with the procurement of an old tinny (which I was told "may or may not float, but if you take it off my property, she's yours"). I found a dingy trailer on Kijiji for $200 (which I modified slightly), and bought a 40lb thrust electric and a pair of $80 oars from crappy tire ... I had my first "boat".

This is the official launch in the sparkling clean water at Petrie Island. I emptied about 4 tubes of marine caulking on every rivet and seam, and painted it with marine paint.

She was indeed sea worthy.

We headed straight to our local muskie sanctuary. We did 2 years of chest wading in this creek, and I have to tell you, the new vessel is an absolute luxury.

Caught a few walleye this year too. No Quite-size 'eyes, but whatever... look at them happy faces.

Didn't do a lot of bass fishing this year. Caught a nice smallie while testing out our yaks for an Algonquin trip.

Then my buddy Jer caught a high 3 lber at the Fish Hawk tourney on Mississippi Lake.

Also got a chance to hang out and fish with a couple Hawkers!

Brad hosted me on his boat for the FH derby. I may have forced him to take a pic with less than stellar fish, so I did him the honour of hiding the evidence. :)

Then Yan offered to bring me aboard his ship for some fall Ottawa River fishing which was a blast (caught some walleye, sauger, mooneye and chunky catfish).

And that's that! Maybe this EOY post will motivate me enough to go out one more time......

YES!!

I knew I liked you for a reason! That boat is AWESOME! I have one a little smaller and one the same size. Where did you get the new Merc in one of those pictures? What size is it?

Great job you and Jeramey did all year. I enjoyed meeting you two at the Miss and am quite certain that we will hook up more than a few times over the next while!

BTW; That fish that either your brother or father is holding looks a little thin.

Proof that you don't need big dollars to get out on the water and get into good fish.

I have put my fair share of rivet and fiber glass patches.
I've also been without and just bailed all day..

Great season!

Thanks all, for the replies.

Craig, that ain't my Mercury unfortunately... That's a boat/motor we rented up at the Baskatong Reservoir.

The Minn-Kota is the only thing propelling the green machine.

Great year Eric.

You guys certainly have "muskie creek" on lockdown.

Looking forward to next years muskie creek adventures.
