Another Chubby Darter Walleye!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Another Chubby Darter Walleye!

Post by OBD »

Went out for the usual x-mas eve fish some pike and walleye. The pike couldn't resist the perch colored chubby darter. They were all over it this afternoon! Nothing more exciting than a pike strike on a jigging rod! As the sun got closer to the tree tops, I started making my way to a good walleye spot, and it sure paid off!

This guy came off bottom with no hesitation and just swallowed that darter like there was no tomorrow!

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all! Be safe out there!

Nice walleye dude. I'm a couple of days away from my first trip out.
Be safe and Merry Christmas everyone. I have to get to bed if I want Santa to come.

ottawa on fire today

Post by bassman40 »

got the afternoon off from the wife and kids to try out my new 4 man pop-up tent and portable heater I got for xmas.
Arrived at Oziles to get my minnows only to find them closed :x
but decided to persivere with jigging spoons and try my luck anyways.

As Olie suggested, the ice was 5`approx thick at 50 yards out from shore.
I met up with anopther fellow ice man and struck up a convo with him.
His name was luc from Buckingham and helped me setup my new tent and heater and also lent me a few of his minnows.
In the 1st 20 minutes he`d regret that as I caught a nice 3lb chunky walleye, then missed a few other good hits until 1 hour later I landed a 5lb pike with Luc`s help.

The tent was awesome warm with the heater and stayed out til dark.
With action like this...I`ll be out tomorrow (if the wife let`s me)

Thanks Luc for the minnows and if your reading this, I`ll see you again tomorrow and the minnows are on me this time! lol

Cheers!
