Couple of firsts at Rockland...

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Couple of firsts at Rockland...

Post by CDF »

Hi all,

Full of surprises today on the Ottawa.

First...
Caught my first Muskie casting a chartreuse spinner bait (was fishing for bass). She looked beat up, few battle scars on her and a bit tired, but gave me a few good runs. Finally brought her in...according to the Trilene Ruler taped to the boat, she was 36inches. She did a good job on my thumb...Any guesses on her weight?

Second,
Kayaker dies right where I was fishing. Kayak rolls over, but doesn't roll back. I boot over, poor old guy is face down on the water. Did all I could, but he was announced dead by the time the authorities arrived. It's on the news, CJOH.

A full day,
Cman

Sounds like an eventful day on the water. I'd say your catch was in the 7 to 9 pound range !

And that is why I am not a 'yakfisherman'. One stroke with that paddle and I'd roll over too. Old, fat, smoker ... yup, c'mon make me paddle, my wife needs the insurance money.

Congrats on the fish though.

cman,

That is one day I'm sure you'll never forget.

Congrats on your musky and may many more follow. And bless you for your efforts to help that poor guy. It must have been horrible to witness.

W.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

That's a tough one, poor guy. Your fish was probably in the 15 to 18 lb range.
